Some Buddhist temples in Bangladesh burned hundreds of angry mobs on Sunday, September 30, 2012. Arson is thought to be triggered by the mounting anger of the photo insulting Islam on Facebook.
CNN reported, the image is displayed sheets of the Koran that was half burned. No mention who pengunggahnya, but the photos are tagged to a young Buddha.
According to police spokesman Bangladesh, Saleem Jahangir, not this young man who uploaded the photo on Facebook. Youth account has been deleted. Police refused to give his name for security reasons.
Earlier on Saturday, hundreds of protesters took to the streets of Bangladesh, to protest the loading of images. The next day, hundreds of people walked to the area of Cox's Bazar, located in the south of the capital Dhaka.
Reuters preached a violent mob set fire to at least four Buddhist temples and Buddhist 15 houses in the district of Ramu, Cox's Bazar. Dozens of houses were also reported damaged.
Not yet known how many people were injured in the incident. Police and army personnel have additional lowered into the Buddhist-majority region. "We have the situation under control before morning and imposed a ban on assembly," said Jahangir.
Muslims in Bangladesh amounted to about 90 percent of the population. Previously, Muslims in this country also staged a protest over the Islamic penista films on Facebook. Muslims in Bangladesh are also angered by the killing of ethnic Rohingya in Myanmar.
After the events of the burning temple, the government immediately formed a special committee charged with investigating the causes and perpetrators of the act. Report of the investigation is expected to come out within 10 days.
Interior Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir Bangladesh accuses the opposition party, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, was behind the attack.
