In This Deadly Lake, All Animals Are Stone



Not all lakes have fresh water and shelter can be a living creature, such as the deadly lake located in Tanzania, East Africa.  In the lake is called Lake Natron, all animals were submerged in the lake water will turn to stone.  This happens due to the lake temperature can rise to 60 degrees at any time, as well as high alkalinity due to the accumulation of volcanic ash from the Great Rift Valley.  Photographer Nick Brandt came to the site, to document the victims of the lake as dead birds and small animals that have been petrified because of calcification.
